Faith Tested

Since my publisher has Reaper’s Requiem (book three of the Reaper series) for editing, I’ve decided to utilize my free time and work on restructuring Faith Tested. It’s book one in the Christian Fiction series I’m writing. Originally, I wrote it as a short novel and entered it into the Genesis Contest with the ACFW. I unfortunately didn’t make it out of the first round of the highly competitive contest. I am reworking the characters, going with the same plot, but also making in a full length novel.

At first I was bothered and down right depressed after I didn’t make it to the semi-finals. It’s a hard pill to swallow when you’re competitive person like I am and you don’t win. After a break from the book, I went back and looked at the critiques by the three judges, all established editors/publishers in the Christian Fiction book industry. I studied their critiques and seen the things I needed to improve. Now, with a renewed sense of urgency, I’m back to work on that book. I didn’t realize how one dimensional my characters and their conflicts were. So, with time on my side, I’m working on making it a better novel and can’t wait for the world to read it, one day.
